Cordillera
Cordillera is my second work for full orchestra. The title was partially derived from the ongoing struggle between local rising gestures and falling gestures, but was also influenced by the overall mountainlike shape of the piece; the beginning is saturated with upward motion, and the end is a sudden orchestral tumble down the other side.
The piece was selected as the winner of the 2009-2010 UNT Concerto Competition, and was performed by Ludwig Carrasco and the UNT Symphony Orchestra on March 10, 2010.
