The Carousel
I wrote The Carousel at age sixteen, soon after joining the Wesleyan Wind Ensemble in 2002, as I was inspired by the college-level repertoire and technical ability of the group. Though I had done a bit of composing already (experimenting is more like it), this was the first piece of mine that was performed and recorded. It was all a great thrill for me. As a result, I was completely obsessed with the wind ensemble, and in the years following, I devoted much attention to it.
