Short Ride In A Used ‘98 Honda

Originally inspired by Max Weber’s New York At Night, Short Ride In A Used ‘98 Honda (June 2011) began as a commission from the Blanton Museum of Art, but quickly developed a life of its own and grew into a three-movement fixed media piece. The composition is loosely modeled after elements of urban life, particularly chaotic, unpredictable, and fast-paced experiences on the road. Original sounds were taken from automobiles, motorcycles, crowd noise, and simple waveforms. The processing was handled entirely in SuperCollider. Big thanks to Hugh Lobel, John Hunt, and Steve Snowden for providing the sounds.
